The Sons of Pitches
The Sons of Pitches are one of the premiere vocal groups currently working in the UK. In November 2015 they became the winners of BBC2’s The Naked Choir hosted by Gareth Malone. They have won multiple awards and their videos have had over two and a half million views on their YouTube channel. We are excited to welcome them to the Amey Theatre on Saturday 3 February 2018.
Since winning The Naked Choir, the group have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, delighting audiences with their unique combination of vocal performance and showmanship. 2016 and 2017 saw The Sons perform to over twenty thousand people including two sell-out tours over 3 months, as well as the release of their first self-penned album, Don't Fret.
The band have been announced as House Band for Sky1 HD's upcoming series "Sing: Ultimate A Cappella" with Cat Deeley - find out more about the show here!
Despite their recent success, the boys are loath to forget their humble beginnings performing at pubs and bars across Birmingham (as well as scraping a living by busking on Birmingham’s New Street for much of 2012!). With this in mind, the boys are proud to deliver vocal workshops for schools and community groups whenever they can. It remains a firm belief of The Sons of Pitches that singing a cappella is a great way to encourage creativity and to boost the confidence of both adults and children alike.
To find out more about the band, take a look at their website.
Tickets cost £20 (£17 for concessions) each and are on sale through the Abingdon School Box Office or on 01235 849063.
The Sons of Pitches will also be giving a one hour a cappella workshop for up to sixty enthusiastic singers between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday 3 February 2018, and participants may even get the opportunity to perform with the boys in the evening concert! Places on the workshop cost just £10 each, are available to anyone aged 16+ and can be purchased through the Abingdon School Box Office or on 01235 849063.
The Amey Theatre is located in Abingdon School's grounds and is accessed from Park Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1DE.
